AI-driven workflows boost productivity by 20% study finds

A new study by Zebra Technologies and Oxford Economics has revealed that digitizing and automating workflows with technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and data analytics can boost productivity by up to 20% and significantly improve customer satisfaction across sectors.

The survey, which engaged 1,000 senior leaders across eight countries, including India, highlights how intelligent operations are reshaping retail, manufacturing, transportation, and logistics.

Frontline workflow optimization fuels growth.

According to the research, retailers reported a 21% rise in customer satisfaction, manufacturers saw a 19% gain in employee productivity, and transport and logistics firms achieved a 21% increase in productivity.

If the top 20 companies in each sector of the Forbes Global 2000 adopted workflow optimization strategies, they could realize an average of US$3 billion more in annual revenue and US$120 million in additional profit, the study estimates.

“Retail, manufacturing, and logistics are being redefined at the workflow level – where speed, visibility, and precision drive growth, elevate frontline productivity, and improve customer experiences,” said Joe White, Chief Product & Solutions Officer at Zebra Technologies.

AI and advanced tools deliver real results.

The study underscores how companies are already piloting or adopting advanced technologies to streamline operations.

  • Retailers are using AI to address inventory optimization, loss prevention, and risk detection.

  • Two-thirds of logistics companies and nearly half of manufacturers have deployed AI for demand forecasting and predictive analytics.

  • Tools like RFID and machine vision are further strengthening efficiency and visibility across supply chains.

“With our refreshed brand identity, Zebra is strengthening its commitment to India by empowering frontline workers,” said Subramaniam Thiruppathi, Director, Sales, India & Sub-Continent, Zebra Technologies.

Commitment to ‘Better Every Day’

Zebra’s newly launched brand platform, Better Every Day, reflects its mission to modernize processes and help organizations adapt to challenges such as labor shortages and shifting consumer expectations.

“Zebra Technologies empowers organizations of all sizes globally to continuously drive better processes and adapt to changing conditions,” added Bill Burns, Chief Executive Officer, Zebra Technologies.
