Air Tahiti Unveils All-Business-Class ATR 72-600 Cabin

Post by : Amit

June 26, 2025 | Papeete, French Polynesia — In a bold reimagining of regional air travel, Air Tahiti has unveiled an all-business-class interior for its ATR 72-600 turboprop, offering passengers a unique blend of short-haul convenience and premium cabin comfort. The redesigned aircraft marks a significant departure from traditional regional layouts and reflects growing demand for upscale, boutique air experiences in remote and tourism-driven destinations.

The new configuration seats only 30 passengers — a sharp reduction from the typical 70-seat layout of a standard ATR 72 — allowing for generously spaced, wide leather seats arranged 1-1 and 2-1 across the cabin. Each seat is reclinable, with ample legroom, adjustable headrests, and fold-out tray tables. The refined interior also includes subtle Polynesian-inspired design accents, reflecting the cultural identity of the islands Air Tahiti serves.

Premium lighting, upgraded sound insulation, and a calm color palette aim to enhance the cabin ambiance, creating a lounge-like feel more commonly found in private jet charters or long-haul business cabins.

According to Air Tahiti, the transformation of its ATR 72-600 into a luxury regional aircraft is part of a broader strategy to cater to high-end travelers, especially those flying between exclusive island resorts, business hubs, and private destinations in French Polynesia and the South Pacific.

This model also bridges the gap between commercial aviation and bespoke travel, offering premium service on routes where widebody jets aren’t viable. The cabin enables Air Tahiti to target luxury tourism markets, private transfers, and even VIP charters — a rising niche in post-pandemic air travel.

The cabin redesign was completed in partnership with ATR and designer aviation specialists, who carefully re-engineered the aircraft interior without compromising on safety, balance, or aircraft performance. Despite the luxurious finish, the aircraft retains its full regional operational capabilities, including short runway performance and efficiency, which are critical in Polynesia’s fragmented island geography.

Designed with premium travelers in mind, the new all-business-class cabin offers a luxurious and personalized flying experience. Featuring a 30-seat layout with wide, plush reclining seats, the cabin is tailored for comfort on long-haul routes. Enhanced noise insulation and soothing ambient lighting create a tranquil atmosphere, while thoughtful amenities such as personal storage spaces, USB charging ports, and foldable tray tables add convenience and functionality.

Each passenger enjoys a dedicated overhead compartment, ensuring ample space for carry-on items without crowding. The cabin’s aesthetic is elevated with signature French Polynesian design elements, reflected in the trim, color palette, and curated decor, offering a subtle yet distinctive cultural touch. From priority boarding to premium ground services at select airports, every detail of the journey is curated to deliver a seamless and elevated experience—setting a new benchmark for boutique air travel.

Air Tahiti’s move comes at a time when regional air travel is evolving, with airlines exploring ways to differentiate services on short-haul routes. As demand for luxury, privacy, and comfort grows — especially in leisure-driven regions like the Pacific — aircraft like this ATR 72-600 redefine what’s possible for regional turboprop operations.
By focusing on quality over quantity, Air Tahiti is not just flying passengers — it’s curating a premium island-hopping experience.
