Airbus delivered about 51 airplanes in May 2025, which is 4% less than what they delivered in May last year. So far this year, Airbus has delivered around 243 planes, which is 5% fewer than the number delivered in the first five months of 2024.
Airbus has not made any public comments yet but is expected to release a monthly update on June 5.
As the world’s biggest airplane maker, Airbus is under pressure from airlines because of delays in delivering planes. The company wants to increase the number of planes it delivers this year by 7%, aiming for a total of 820 planes.
This week, airlines meeting in New Delhi expressed their frustration with these ongoing delays. The head of Saudi budget airline flyadeal called the delivery delays "inexcusable." These problems have been going on for several years, partly because of supply issues that started during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Airbus said it hopes these delays, which are partly due to slow engine deliveries, will improve and become more stable during the summer months.
