BYD revealed its third-generation electric bus platform, the e-Bus Platform 3.0, in China. This next-gen platform introduces a pioneering 1,000-volt electrical system, Cell-to-Chassis (CTC) Blade batteries, and upgraded safety and efficiency features.
The first bus model built on this platform, the BYD C11, measures 11 meters and offers multiple battery options: 184 kWh, 257 kWh, 311 kWh, 425 kWh, and 593 kWh. Depending on the configuration, the vehicle can travel between 220 and 730 kilometers on a single charge.
The 1,000V setup, previously used in BYD’s Tang EV and Han EV cars, powers the drivetrain, electronics, and auxiliary systems. The Blade batteries are directly integrated into the chassis, lowering bus height, increasing structural rigidity, and preserving interior space, making it BYD’s slimmest bus battery system yet.
Efficiency upgrades include silicon carbide power electronics and a new 7-in-1 thermal management unit, which reduces energy consumption by up to 18% and extends the low-temperature range by 50–80 kilometers.
Safety and convenience features are also enhanced, with Driver Disability Assistance 2.0 for emergency stops, a tire blowout stability system capable of responding within milliseconds at speeds up to 100 km/h, Intelligent Torque Control (iTAC), and optional active suspension on one or both axles.
BYD has not yet announced the markets or commercial launch dates for the new platform. The e-Bus Platform 3.0 is expected to redefine electric bus standards, combining efficiency, safety, and passenger comfort in a single package.
