Delhi Car Blast Near Red Fort Investigated Under Anti-Terror Law

Post by : Sameer Saifi

A tragic and shocking incident took place in the national capital, New Delhi, on Monday evening. A car exploded near the historic Red Fort area, which is one of the busiest and most popular parts of the city. The blast killed at least eight people and injured around 20 others. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment. This incident has caused fear and sadness among the people of Delhi, as such blasts have not happened in the city for many years.

The police have confirmed that they are investigating this incident under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, known as UAPA. This is India’s main law used in cases where there is suspicion of terrorism or when there is a threat to the country’s security. The police have also filed cases under the Explosives Act and other criminal laws. The police said that the investigation is still in the beginning stage, and it is too early to say who is responsible for the blast or what the motive might be. They are collecting evidence from the site and talking to witnesses to understand the full situation.

The explosion took place near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, at the intersection of Chandni Chowk and Netaji Subhash Marg. This location is usually crowded with shoppers, tourists, street vendors, and daily commuters. According to the information shared by the police, a slow-moving car was waiting at a traffic signal when it suddenly exploded. The blast destroyed nearby cars and damaged parts of the roadway. People in the area said that they heard a very loud sound followed by smoke and panic. Many people started running in fear, and confusion spread quickly.

After the blast, the police sealed the entire area and placed roadblocks to control movement. Shops in the nearby lanes remained closed the next morning. Forensic teams were seen working at the scene to collect metal pieces, burnt car parts, and any other items that may help them understand how the explosion happened. The investigators are trying to find out what type of explosive was used and where it came from.

At this time, there is no clear information about the people who were inside the car when it exploded. The police believe that the people inside the vehicle may have died in the blast, but their identities are still not confirmed. The police are trying to trace who the car belonged to by checking its number plate, registration documents, and CCTV footage from the nearby areas. It may take time to know whether the car was stolen, borrowed, or used under someone else’s identity. These details are very important to understand the motive and the planning behind the explosion.

Security in Delhi and several other states has been put on high alert. Important public places like railway stations, markets, religious centers, government buildings, and airports have received strict security instructions. Police and security forces have been asked to stay alert and watchful for any sign of danger. The government wants to make sure that there are no further incidents and that the public feels safe.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that every angle of the case will be investigated and that all security agencies are working together. He also said that the government will reach a conclusion soon and take strong action. Many officials have requested the public not to spread rumors or share unverified information, as this creates confusion and fear.

At the Lok Nayak Hospital, many relatives of the victims gathered through the night to find out about their loved ones. Some families were crying, some were waiting in silence, and others were trying to speak to doctors for updates. Many people said they did not know whether their family members were alive, injured, or among the dead. The hospital staff are trying their best to treat the injured and support the families.

The blast happening near the Red Fort has raised deeper questions. The Red Fort is not only a historical monument but also a national symbol. It is where the Prime Minister gives the Independence Day speech every year on August 15. Because of this, the area has high security all year round. The fact that a blast took place so close to this location has led many to wonder how the explosive device and vehicle managed to reach the area without being detected earlier. These questions will be part of the investigation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for Bhutan on a scheduled official visit on Tuesday morning. His office has not made any change in the schedule so far. Earlier this year, the Prime Minister had returned early from a foreign trip when an attack took place on Hindu pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir, which led to a serious situation between India and Pakistan.

This explosion is the first major blast in Delhi in more than ten years. In the past, the city has faced several terror-related incidents, but security forces had managed to prevent such attacks in recent times. The return of such violence has caused concern among the people and the authorities.

The people of the country are waiting for answers. The families of the victims are waiting for justice. The investigators are working to collect every detail and piece of evidence to understand how and why this tragic event happened. As the investigation continues, the hope is that the truth will come out, and those responsible will be punished.
