Ethiopian Airlines Introduces Premium Lie-Flat Seats Across Fleets

Post by : Meena Rani

Ethiopian Airlines has signed a significant agreement with Collins Aerospace, an RTX business, to equip its Airbus A350 and Boeing 737 MAX fleets with premium lie-flat business class seating solutions. The deal was finalized during the Dubai Air Show, where the airline also confirmed major aircraft purchase agreements with Airbus and Boeing.

Under the agreement, Ethiopian Airlines’ 11 new A350-900 aircraft will feature Collins Elevation suites, offering enhanced privacy, comfort, and ample space for working, dining, and relaxation. These suites are designed to provide a high-end passenger experience while maintaining a consistent design and feel across the airline’s long-haul fleet.

Additionally, 56 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft will be fitted with Collins Parallel Diamond business class seats, which are tailored for wider comfort and better ergonomics on longer flights.

This collaboration builds upon the established relationship between Ethiopian Airlines and Collins Aerospace, who are also set to provide Elevation suites for Ethiopian’s upcoming Boeing 777-9 order. Together, the airline and Collins aim to ensure a seamless and consistent passenger experience across multiple aircraft types.

“By combining Collins’ advanced seating technology with our onboard services, we are enhancing our passengers’ in-flight experience with superior comfort, privacy, and a reflection of Ethiopian hospitality and innovation,” said Retta Melaku, Group Chief Operating Officer of Ethiopian Airlines.

Cynthia Muklevicz, Vice President of Customer and Business Development at Collins Aerospace, added: “Collins’ focus on quality and function, aligned with Ethiopian’s commitment to world-class service and innovation, ensures an elevated in-flight experience for travelers from Addis Ababa and beyond.”

This upgrade demonstrates Ethiopian Airlines’ ongoing commitment to premium passenger comfort and operational excellence, positioning it as one of Africa’s leading carriers in terms of service quality and innovation. The integration of lie-flat seating across both narrow-body and wide-body aircraft underscores the airline’s dedication to enhancing international travel standards.
