Flipkart, one of India’s leading homegrown e-commerce marketplaces, is significantly expanding its supply chain network across the country ahead of its flagship festive sale event, The Big Billion Days 2025. This strategic expansion involves the launch of new fulfilment centers (FCs), regional distribution centers (RDCs), and last-mile hubs in key locations, including Varanasi, Agra, Ghaziabad, Patna, Manesar, and Agartala. By adding these facilities, Flipkart aims to provide faster deliveries, support the rapid growth of quick commerce in India, and generate thousands of job opportunities for local communities.
The total expansion covers an impressive 35 lakh square feet and reaches over 21,000 pincodes nationwide. This massive infrastructure development strengthens Flipkart’s regional presence and ensures that customers, from metro cities to smaller towns, can receive their orders more quickly and reliably during the festive season.
Details of New Fulfilment Centers and Regional Hubs
Varanasi Fulfillment Center:
The newly operational Varanasi facility spans 2 lakh square feet. Designed to handle large volumes of orders efficiently, it is expected to create approximately 3,600 direct and indirect employment opportunities. This center is equipped with modern technology and processes that allow Flipkart to manage and ship orders quickly, ensuring that customers in the region receive timely deliveries.
Patna Fulfillment Center:
Patna’s large fulfillment center covers 4.5 lakh square feet and serves over 1,000 pincodes. The facility has generated more than 1,100 jobs for locals, contributing significantly to the employment ecosystem of Bihar. This centre handles a wide range of products, from daily essentials to electronics and fashion items, ensuring that customers across the state can enjoy fast delivery during the festive season.
Manesar Regional Distribution Center:
One of the largest state-of-the-art facilities in India, the Manesar RDC spans an impressive 140 acres. It is expected to create over 10,000 jobs, offering employment opportunities for various local talent pools. This center handles diverse product categories, including furniture, appliances, and general merchandise. Its scale and technology ensure that Flipkart can respond quickly to fluctuating customer demand and manage deliveries efficiently across Northern India.
Agartala Grocery Fulfilment Center:
Flipkart has entered the Northeast with its first grocery-focused fulfilment center in Agartala, Tripura. The 35,000-square-foot facility has the capacity to process approximately 5,000 orders per day. This expansion demonstrates Flipkart’s commitment to extending its services to the Northeast, offering customers fresh grocery products and essentials with faster delivery timelines.
Other Key Expansion Locations:
In addition to Varanasi, Patna, Manesar, and Agartala, Flipkart has strengthened its presence in Ranchi, Ghaziabad, Agra, Guwahati, Singur, and Saidham. These expansions improve last-mile delivery capabilities, ensuring that festive orders reach customers efficiently. With these additions, Flipkart now operates over 100 fulfilment centers nationwide, creating a robust network capable of handling millions of orders simultaneously.
Scaling Quick Commerce with Micro-Fulfilment Centers
Beyond large-scale fulfillment centers, Flipkart is also focusing on quick commerce through nearly 400 new micro-fulfilment centers and dark stores across 19 cities. This network underpins Flipkart Minutes, the company’s rapid delivery service for essentials and festive products. Flipkart Minutes has experienced exponential growth, doubling order volumes every 45 days since its launch.
These micro-fulfilment centers allow Flipkart to reach customers faster than ever before, particularly in urban areas and tier-2 cities where demand for same-day and next-day delivery is increasing. The combination of large centres and agile local hubs ensures a hybrid supply chain capable of meeting both volume-driven and time-sensitive demands.
Creating Jobs Across India
Flipkart’s supply chain expansion has created more than 2.2 lakh additional seasonal job opportunities across warehousing, logistics, and last-mile delivery operations. Employment opportunities have been designed to include women, persons with disabilities (PwDs), and first-time workforce participants, reflecting Flipkart’s focus on inclusive hiring.
To strengthen skill development, Flipkart supports its employees through the Supply Chain Operations Academy (SCOA), which provides training in logistics, inventory management, and technology-driven operations. The company also collaborates with social organizations to further encourage inclusive hiring practices, ensuring that the festive supply chain not only meets customer demand but also contributes to India’s broader employment ecosystem.
Health and Wellness Initiatives for Workers
Employee well-being is a priority for Flipkart, particularly during peak festive periods when warehouse and delivery staff face high workloads. In partnership with NReach Online Services, Ekart (Flipkart’s logistics arm) has organized health camps under its Suraksha wellness program.
These health camps cover over 6,000 warehouse associates across 21 supply chain facilities. Workers receive comprehensive health check-ups, including blood tests and screenings for diabetes, kidney, liver, and heart conditions. The initiative ensures that frontline employees remain healthy, motivated, and able to perform their duties efficiently during the busy festive season.
The Suraksha program has already supported 1.7 lakh associates in 2025 and facilitated more than 18 lakh minutes of doctor consultations last year. These efforts demonstrate Flipkart’s commitment to caring for the people who drive its supply chain operations.
Building a Future-Ready Supply Chain
Hemant Badri, Senior Vice President and Head of Supply Chain, Customer Experience & Re-Commerce at Flipkart, explained that the company’s hybrid supply chain model combines large fulfilment centers with agile hyperlocal hubs. This approach allows Flipkart to serve every corner of India efficiently, providing faster deliveries and a better shopping experience.
Badri emphasized that this expansion not only strengthens delivery speed and reliability but also supports local economies by generating employment opportunities and enabling regional business growth. The combination of technology, logistics expertise, and inclusive hiring makes Flipkart’s supply chain future-ready and capable of handling increasing customer expectations.
Festive Readiness and Customer Benefits
With the launch of new centres, hubs, and wellness programs, Flipkart is fully prepared for The Big Billion Days 2025. Customers from metros, tier-2, and tier-3 cities can expect:
Faster and more reliable delivery of products, including essentials, fashion, electronics, and groceries.
Access to a wider range of products with improved stock availability.
Quick commerce services powered by Flipkart Minutes for same-day and next-day delivery.
At the same time, the expansion has provided thousands of new jobs, empowering individuals across various regions and contributing to local economies. This ensures that festive shopping in India becomes not only a convenient experience for consumers but also a source of meaningful employment and economic growth.
Flipkart’s pan-India supply chain expansion highlights its role as a key driver of India’s e-commerce growth. By integrating large-scale fulfilment centers with micro-hubs, prioritizing employee wellness, and focusing on inclusive hiring, Flipkart is set to deliver a seamless and enjoyable shopping experience during The Big Billion Days 2025. The company’s efforts not only meet the high demands of festive shopping but also strengthen regional economies and provide a sustainable model for India’s growing e-commerce sector.
