June 26, 2025 | New Delhi — In a significant push toward making search more natural and interactive, Google has officially launched its new AI Mode in India, a feature that enables users to conduct searches using a mix of voice commands, visual inputs, and text prompts — all in one seamless interface. Built atop Google’s Gemini AI platform, this launch marks a major evolution in how Indian users will interact with the internet, turning search into a multimodal conversation.
The feature is rolling out across Android devices and within Google Lens, Google Assistant, and the Chrome browser, providing users with a more fluid, context-aware way to find information — whether they’re speaking, pointing their camera, or typing.
AI Mode combines the capabilities of voice recognition, visual analysis, and text understanding to help users search and navigate more naturally. For example, a user can take a picture of a damaged car part, ask “How do I fix this?” and receive detailed responses, videos, and repair guides — all in real time. Similarly, one can point the camera at a product in a store and ask for online prices or reviews, or say, “Find recipes using these ingredients,” while scanning vegetables on the kitchen counter.
The mode is deeply integrated with Google Lens and Gemini’s language understanding models, allowing users to jump between voice, camera, and text input without needing to start over.
India’s digital ecosystem — with over 800 million internet users and strong mobile-first usage patterns — is seen as a prime market for AI adoption. The launch of AI Mode here reflects Google’s commitment to making advanced technology more inclusive and accessible.
Google India’s spokesperson highlighted that the feature is particularly designed to support regional use cases, with planned support for multiple Indian languages and localized contexts. This is especially relevant in rural areas or among first-time smartphone users, where voice and image-based input often feel more intuitive than typing in English.
With AI Mode, Google is aiming to transform everyday tasks — from shopping and cooking to travel planning and academic help. Users can now:
This seamless interplay of modalities is powered by the Gemini AI model, which brings advanced reasoning, real-time understanding, and dynamic response generation to the forefront.
Google assures users that the AI Mode complies with its privacy framework. Visual and voice data are processed with user consent, and real-time processing ensures that data is not stored unnecessarily. On-device capabilities, powered by Google's latest TPU and Edge AI infrastructure, mean that much of the work happens locally, ensuring faster results and more privacy-conscious design.
Google’s launch of AI Mode in India is more than a feature update — it’s a glimpse into the future of human-computer interaction. By combining voice, vision, and text into a unified interface, the tech giant is redefining what it means to “search” online. In a country as diverse and digitally active as India, the potential for this technology to empower users — across languages, regions, and literacy levels — is massive.
As the digital world shifts toward more natural interfaces, Google’s AI Mode places India at the center of that transformation, bringing smart, accessible search to millions in an intuitive and personalized way.
