New Delhi | June 23, 2025 — In a striking move blending fashion, tech, and AI, Meta has joined forces with eyewear giant Oakley to launch a new line of smart glasses that push the boundaries of wearable technology. Unveiled today, the sleek, high-performance glasses feature 3K video recording and deep integration with Meta’s generative AI, marking a major leap forward in the smart eyewear race.
This is not Meta’s first foray into the wearables space—but it may be its most ambitious. Building on previous collaborations with Ray-Ban, this new partnership with Oakley brings a sportier, high-performance edge to the product, targeting a more active, on-the-go audience.
“We're fusing intelligence with aesthetics,” a Meta spokesperson said during the launch. “These glasses aren’t just about seeing the world—they’re about understanding it in real time.”
One of the standout features of the new smart glasses is their ability to record ultra-wide 3K video, a significant upgrade from earlier models. Whether you're hiking up the Himalayas or cycling through city traffic, the glasses promise to capture the world with cinematic clarity.
But the real game-changer is what lies beneath the surface—Meta AI. Fully integrated into the device, users can ask real-time questions, receive contextual information, and even translate conversations on the fly, all through discreet voice commands. Imagine walking through a foreign city and getting historical facts, language help, or navigation tips, hands-free and in the moment.
“Think of it as having a smart assistant right between your eyes,” said one tech analyst. “It’s no longer just about connectivity—it’s about cognition.”
Oakley’s signature design DNA is unmistakable. The glasses sport a lightweight yet rugged build, crafted for durability without compromising style. Designed for athletes, adventurers, and everyday tech lovers alike, the smart glasses come in multiple frame styles, with tinted or prescription lens options, catering to both function and fashion.
The smart eyewear also includes enhanced speakers, noise-reduction microphones, and improved battery life, offering up to 6 hours of continuous usage. The touch-sensitive arms allow for intuitive control, and the glasses seamlessly sync with smartphones and Meta's suite of AR/VR tools.
Of course, the inclusion of high-quality video and AI capabilities brings up the inevitable privacy question. Meta claims it has implemented visual indicators and strict data handling protocols to address user and bystander concerns. A small LED light activates when recording is on, and data is encrypted end-to-end, Meta assured during the product demo.
The company has also taken steps to limit AI processing to local or permission-based queries, further easing fears of constant surveillance.
This launch signals Meta’s continued ambition to dominate the augmented reality (AR) and wearables market, even as rivals like Apple, Google, and Samsung ramp up their own efforts in the space. Analysts say the partnership with Oakley is a savvy move—combining Meta’s software prowess with a trusted performance brand known for innovation in eyewear.
With India among the fastest-growing markets for wearable tech, the timing couldn’t be better. The glasses are expected to hit select markets, including the U.S., Europe, and parts of Asia, later this summer. Pricing details are yet to be officially confirmed, but industry insiders hint at a premium price tag, likely in line with flagship smartphones.
