Mumbai Trains Stopped at Night for Metro 9 Work, Schedule Changes Ahead

Post by : Ramanpreet Kaur

Train services in Mumbai will be stopped for three nights between Mira Road and Bhayander because of work on Metro Line 9. This will cause changes in train schedules and some short-term trouble for passengers on the Western Railway network. The news was reported by the Railway Supply portal.

The train stoppage will happen from June 7 to June 10. On the first night, trains will stop running from 1:30 AM to 3:15 AM. On the next two nights, the stoppage will be from 1:45 AM to 3:00 AM. These times were chosen to cause less trouble for passengers.

All trains on the Western Railway lines will have their schedules changed. Some trains will be canceled or will stop earlier than usual. This is needed to safely place heavy girders over the tracks and to protect the electrical equipment above the trains.

Western Railway said the last train from Churchgate to Virar will leave at 11:58 PM on June 7, and the last train to Bhayander will leave at 11:38 PM. Trains going south from Virar will stop at 12:05 AM. Similar changes will happen on June 8 and 9. Passengers are advised to check train timings before traveling, especially at night.

In addition to these night stoppages, a long pause in train services, called a jumbo block, will happen on June 8 from 10:35 AM to 3:35 PM between Churchgate and Mumbai Central. This break is needed for regular track and signal repairs.

During this time, slow trains will run on the fast tracks. Some trains will stop at Bandra or Dadar, and some will be canceled. These changes are to keep everyone safe during the maintenance work.

Officials said these changes are only temporary but very important. Metro Line 9 will make it easier for people to travel east to west in Mumbai’s western suburbs. It will also help make travel cleaner and more efficient.

While these changes may cause short delays, the long-term benefits include less crowding and better connections between different transport options. Passengers should check for live updates and plan their trips carefully to avoid problems.
