Tata Motors, India’s biggest company in the commercial vehicle sector, has taken a major step toward green travel. The company has signed an agreement to give 100 electric buses, called Magna EV intercity coaches, to Green Energy Mobility Solutions (GEMS). This new electric vehicle branch is part of Universal Bus Services, a popular travel brand in South India known for its reliable and premium travel experience.

This agreement was made during a major event called the Passenger Vehicle Expo 2.0 in Chennai. At the event, Tata Motors showcased many of its new buses, including the all-electric Magna EV and another model called the LPO 1822. These buses are made to give passengers more comfort while also being cheaper to run in the long term.

Universal Bus Services has launched its electric vehicle wing, GEMS, to focus only on clean and eco-friendly buses. Their goal is to switch from using diesel buses to electric ones. This change will also include setting up new electric charging stations across their travel routes to support this new way of transport.

The deal was signed in the presence of important guests, including the Minister for Industries in Tamil Nadu, Dr. T.R.B. Rajaa. He shared his excitement about this partnership and said that it shows how Tamil Nadu is moving ahead in electric and clean travel. According to him, these new electric buses will help reduce air pollution and give people a cleaner, safer way to travel between cities.

Sunil Kumar Ravindran, a key leader at Universal Bus Services and GEMS, said that this step is a big one for them. He shared that their past relationship with Tata Motors is based on trust. Now, with these electric buses, long-distance travel will become quieter, smoother, and better for the environment. He also pointed out that these buses will lower fuel costs since they don’t use petrol or diesel and will not create any pollution.

Anand S, a senior leader at Tata Motors, said that the Magna EV buses were made after listening to customers and doing many tests. These buses are meant to completely change how people travel between cities. He believes these buses will become a new standard in travel—comfortable, efficient, and environmentally friendly.

The Magna EV is fully electric and can travel up to 300 kilometers on just one charge. It has 44 seats and is designed for long-distance trips. The seats are made for comfort, and the bus has high-tech safety features like Electronic Braking System (EBS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC), which help avoid accidents and keep the ride smooth.

Tata Motors is already the top company in India when it comes to electric buses. It has already delivered over 3,600 electric buses in 11 cities across the country. These buses have been running smoothly and have already traveled more than 34 crore kilometers in total. They also use a smart tracking system called Fleet Edge. This system helps operators monitor the buses in real-time, improve performance, and manage the whole fleet better.

With this new deal, Tata Motors and GEMS are pushing India further into a cleaner, greener future for intercity travel. These buses will soon be seen on long routes across South India, offering passengers an eco-friendly and high-comfort travel option.
