Siddhant Awasthi, the leader of Tesla’s Cybertruck program, has announced that he is leaving the company after working there for more than eight years. His decision was shared through a post on LinkedIn. Awasthi joined Tesla as an intern and worked his way up to leading one of the company’s most talked-about projects. His story has often been seen as an example of how employees can grow inside the company.
Awasthi played a major role in taking the Cybertruck from its early engineering stage to production. His responsibilities included product planning, improving quality, and managing the supply chain. This means he helped turn the Cybertruck from an idea into a real vehicle that could be built and sold. He also took charge of Tesla’s Model 3 program earlier this year, showing that he held an important leadership position at the company.
In his farewell message, Awasthi said he never imagined, when he first joined Tesla as an intern, that he would someday lead the Cybertruck project. He expressed pride in being part of a product that gained worldwide attention.
Tesla, led by Elon Musk, has seen strong sales in some recent months. In the third quarter, Tesla had record vehicle deliveries. Many people rushed to buy Tesla cars before a U.S. tax credit of $7,500 expired. However, experts believe sales may drop in the fourth quarter now that this tax benefit is no longer available.
The Cybertruck, which has a unique design and strong public interest, has also faced challenges. Tesla has recently offered discounts on Cybertruck units already in inventory, showing that demand might not be as strong as expected. Some consumers have also raised questions about price, durability, and delivery times.
Awasthi’s departure comes at a time when Tesla is trying to keep its position as a leader in electric vehicles while dealing with rising competition and market pressure. The company has not yet named a new head for the Cybertruck program.
His leaving raises questions about the future strategy of the Cybertruck and Tesla’s next steps in the electric truck market. However, Tesla continues to work on expanding production and improving customer experience.
For now, Awasthi’s journey remains an example of dedication and growth inside one of the world’s most innovative car companies.
