Turkish Airlines has announced a major agreement with GE Aerospace to provide engines, spare engines, and long-term maintenance services for 75 new Boeing B787 Dreamliner aircraft. The announcement was made in a statement to the Istanbul stock exchange. This deal supports Turkish Airlines’ earlier decision in September to buy the 75 Boeing planes, which include 50 confirmed orders and 25 optional orders. The aircraft will be delivered between the years 2029 and 2034.
The new Boeing B787 planes are known for being fuel-efficient and comfortable for long-distance travel. By securing reliable engines and maintenance support from GE Aerospace, Turkish Airlines is preparing to expand its global flight network in the coming years. The airline already flies to more countries than any other airline in the world, and this decision shows that it plans to grow even further.
This move also fits with Turkey’s larger goal of making Istanbul an important travel hub for international passengers. Istanbul’s main airport is already one of the busiest airports in the world, and more long-range planes will help Turkish Airlines open new routes in Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas.
Experts say these new aircraft will also help reduce fuel use and environmental impact, because the Boeing B787 is built with lighter materials that burn less fuel. Many airlines around the world are trying to update their fleets to be more efficient and eco-friendly, and Turkish Airlines is taking an important step in that direction.
The delivery of the aircraft will take place slowly over several years, showing that this is a long-term investment. Aircraft orders are often placed many years in advance because the building process takes time and global demand is high. The maintenance services included in this agreement will help Turkish Airlines keep the engines operating safely and reduce the chance of flight delays.
This new deal strengthens Turkish Airlines’ position in global aviation and shows confidence in the future growth of air travel. With modern aircraft and long-term engine support, the airline aims to give passengers a safe, comfortable, and reliable flying experience in the years ahead.
