As India’s festival season looms, electric two‐wheeler maker Ather Energy is accelerating its output and logistics with the backing of TVS Industrial & Logistics Parks (TVS ILP). Leveraging a built-to-suit facility in Hosur, the collaboration is aimed at meeting spikes in demand, optimising inventory flow, and improving charging infrastructure—ensuring that the surge in orders doesn’t become a logistical bottleneck.
The Hosur facility developed by TVS ILP for Ather works on a built-to-suit model—tailored infrastructure designed specifically to meet Ather’s operational needs. It has already played a vital role in Ather achieving a production rate of one vehicle every 0.46 seconds, reflecting a highly automated, scaled assembly system. With production rates like that, ensuring downstream logistics keep pace becomes essential for meeting festive season demand.
To support rising demand, TVS ILP is helping Ather expand its charging infrastructure and optimise space at the battery plant. The facility is also helping manage increasing inventory during the festive peak, reducing delays and improving delivery timelines. Its strategic location in Hosur provides pan-India distribution advantages, reducing transport time and cost when moving inventory toward areas with high consumer demand.
Much of Ather’s demand growth during festivals is expected to come from Tier II and Tier III cities. With increasing awareness of electric mobility, and the upcoming reforms like GST 2.0 that aim to make purchasing simpler and potentially cheaper, consumers beyond major metros are choosing EVs in larger numbers. Ather’s strong sales figures, particularly in August, show this trend clearly: EV adoption is accelerating overall, not just in concentrated urban markets.
Beyond raw production and charging capacity, TVS ILP is adding value-added services for Ather: efficient inventory management, space optimisation, and customized logistics solutions. These help reduce wasted time, storage costs, and handling inefficiencies, especially during periods of peak demand like the festival season. For Ather, this translates into cost savings and better service for customers.
“During critical periods like the festive season, scaling efficiently is crucial,” says Ramnath Subramaniam, Joint Managing Director of TVS ILP. His view is that positioning logistics and industrial parks closer to consumption hubs ensures smoother operations when demand surges. Sanjeev Kumar Singh, COO at Ather Energy, echoes this sentiment: “TVS ILP’s infrastructural and tech-enabled solutions have allowed us to expand timely and cost-effectively.”
India’s festive demand cycle can make or break a year for manufacturers. For EV makers like Ather that seek long-term growth, ability to deliver reliably is as important as innovation. The partnership between Ather and TVS ILP reflects a trend where logistics and warehousing providers are becoming core partners—helping with scale, speed, and service. Efficient supply chains not only support sales but shape customer perception in a young but competitive EV market.
While the current push is tied to festival season, the benefits stretch further. Better charging infrastructure, streamlined inventory management, and proximity to consumption hubs will serve Ather well beyond the short-term spike. As demand for EVs continues to rise, these supply chain advantages can compound—enabling smoother production, delivery, and customer satisfaction all year round.
