The Mighty XGC88000

The XGC88000 is a marvel of modern engineering and is considered the most powerful crawler crane in the world. It has a lifting capacity of up to 4,000 tons, a boom length of 144 meters, and a total weight of around 5,350 tons. Its design allows for modular assembly, making it flexible and adaptable to the challenging conditions of offshore construction.

Equipped with advanced hydraulic systems and precise control mechanisms, the XGC88000 can lift extremely heavy objects with millimeter-level accuracy. It has been used in large-scale construction projects both in China and internationally, demonstrating its reliability and efficiency.

The Record-Breaking 26MW Turbine

The 26MW turbine installed in Shandong is currently the largest offshore wind turbine in the world. Its hub reaches 185 meters above the sea level, equivalent to a 50-story building. The rotor sweep area covers an impressive 77,000 square meters. This enormous turbine consists of over 30,000 parts, each requiring careful handling and precise assembly.

The installation was a highly complex operation. Engineers needed to connect more than 200 bolts with extreme precision, at heights of nearly 200 meters. This required meticulous planning and coordination to ensure safety and accuracy.

Installing a turbine of this size in the shallow and soft tidal flats of Shandong posed multiple challenges. Traditional cranes would not have been able to handle the weight or reach the necessary height safely.

Environmental Impact and Energy Output

Once fully operational, the 26MW turbine will produce around 100 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year. This amount of energy can power approximately 55,000 homes annually, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and lowering carbon emissions.

This achievement reflects China’s dedication to building a sustainable energy future. The use of advanced machinery such as the XGC88000 allows for faster, safer, and more efficient construction of offshore wind farms, supporting global efforts to combat climate change.
