Amazon India to Add 200+ Micro-Fulfilment Centres by 2025

Post by : Meena Rani

Amazon India is set to significantly expand its logistics footprint, with plans to establish over 200 new micro-fulfillment centers, also known as dark stores, by the end of 2025. This expansion will take the company’s total count of such facilities to more than 300 nationwide.

Strategic Investment in Supply Chain Infrastructure

The expansion is part of a Rs 2,000 crore investment aimed at strengthening Amazon’s storage, sorting, and delivery capabilities across India. Currently, the company’s quick commerce arm, Amazon Now, operates approximately 100 micro-fulfillment centers in key metropolitan regions such as Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru. These centers are pivotal in enabling faster deliveries of daily essentials and high-demand items.

Bolstering Operations Ahead of the Great Indian Festival

Ahead of its flagship Amazon Great Indian Festival, the e-commerce giant has already enhanced its network with:

  • 17 new fulfillment centers

  • 6 sortation centers

  • 75 delivery stations

These additions aim to manage higher-order volumes efficiently and ensure faster delivery times during peak shopping seasons.

Strengthening Quick Commerce Capabilities

The Rs 2,000 crore investment will focus on expanding micro-fulfillment centers and reinforcing delivery infrastructure. By scaling these key supply chain components, Amazon seeks to accelerate its quick commerce capabilities, improving customer experience across both urban and semi-urban regions.

Long-Term Growth Strategy

Industry analysts note that this move underlines Amazon’s aggressive expansion strategy in India’s growing e-commerce and quick commerce markets. As consumer expectations for faster deliveries continue to rise, the company’s logistics expansion reflects a long-term commitment to building one of India’s most efficient and robust delivery networks.
