Boeing has announced a major new contract to build AH-64E Apache attack helicopters for several international customers, with Poland receiving the largest share. The foreign military sales agreement, awarded by the U.S. Army, is worth nearly $4.7 billion and represents a major step in strengthening Poland’s defence capabilities.
The company confirmed that it will produce 96 Apache helicopters for the Polish Armed Forces. This marks the biggest Apache order ever made by a country outside the United States. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2028, giving Poland several years to prepare pilots, crews, and infrastructure for the new aircraft.
Poland already leases eight Apache helicopters from the U.S. Army and has been training its pilots and maintenance teams on the aircraft. This early experience will help Poland smoothly integrate the new Apaches once production is complete.
Boeing said that more than 1,300 Apache helicopters are currently in active service around the world, making it one of the most widely used attack helicopters. The AH-64E model is known for its advanced technology, strong battlefield performance, and ability to operate in difficult environments.
The Pentagon revealed that Boeing won two contracts this week with a combined value of more than $7 billion. The first contract is the $4.7 billion Apache order, and the second is a $2.4 billion U.S. Air Force deal for new production aircraft and related systems.
Boeing has been steadily delivering Apache helicopters to other international forces as well. In recent months, the Australian Army, the Indian Army, and the Royal Moroccan Air Force have all received new Apache aircraft, showing growing global demand for the helicopter.
For Poland, the new order highlights its efforts to strengthen its military amid rising security challenges in Europe. The Apache helicopters will expand Poland’s ability to respond to threats, support NATO operations, and modernise its air combat fleet.
As the 2028 delivery date approaches, Boeing will work closely with Poland and other buyers to ensure the aircraft meet their operational needs. The deal also signals continued cooperation between the U.S. defence industry and allied nations seeking advanced military technology.
