Cathay Pacific is making a strong comeback on one of its key U.S. West Coast routes. Beginning 30 March 2026, the airline will resume non-stop flights between Hong Kong and Seattle, marking Seattle as its ninth North American destination. This relaunch reflects Cathay’s strategy to strengthen its global hub and meet increasing travel demand across Asia and the United States.
Flight Details, Fares & Schedule
The flights will be flown using Airbus A350-900 aircraft, offering upgraded cabin experiences. Business Class will feature fully flat seats, while Premium Economy and Economy cabins will benefit from more space and enhanced comfort. The service schedule will run five times weekly, with some seasonal variation: from 30 March to 31 May, then ramping to earlier departures and adjusted return times during summer from 1 June to 15 September 2026. As part of the fare rollout, promotional round-trip economy tickets begin at HK$5,060 for bookings made between 22 September and 31 October 2025, valid for travel from late March through June 2026.
Strategic Impact & Customer Enhancements
With Seattle back on the map, Cathay Pacific is not only expanding geographical reach, but also improving its customer experience. Travelers will benefit from its global network with over 100 onward connections via Hong Kong. The airline is also upgrading cabins on many U.S. routes, introducing the redesigned Premium Economy, refreshed Economy cabins, and the Aria Suite in Business Class. Furthermore, Cathay plans to open its first dedicated U.S. lounge at New York’s JFK Airport in Terminal 6, offering premium amenities for long-haul flyers.
Cargo operations are also set to get a boost. The A350-900’s belly capacity will support Cathay Pacific Cargo’s network, which is expected to run close to 40 weekly return freighter services on routes to North America during the 2026 summer season. This expansion supports both passenger and cargo demand, helping balance revenue streams and making the route more sustainable.
Resuming the Hong Kong-Seattle route is a clear signal that Cathay Pacific is betting on renewed transpacific travel, fueled by evolving economic ties, tourism interest, and diaspora travel. For Pacific Northwest travelers, this means more direct access to Hong Kong, mainland China and India. For Cathay, it means solidifying hub connectivity, improving customer offerings, and capturing growth in a recovering but competitive transpacific market.
With cabins being refreshed, more flights being added, and promotional fares already in play, the airline is aiming to win back travelers with both value and experience. Watch for how this move influences competition on West Coast routes, how U.S. West Coast traffic trends evolve, and whether other carriers match Cathay’s cabin upgrades
