Chaos Industries Raises $510 Million Amid Defense Technology Boom

Post by : Sameer Saifi

New York, Chaos Industries, a U.S. company that makes radar systems to detect drones, has raised $510 million in a new funding round. The company is now valued at $4.5 billion, its CEO John Tenet said.

Chaos, based in Los Angeles, makes radar called “Vanquish” that can spot drones, missiles, and aircraft from far away. These radars are important because drones are becoming a bigger threat in modern warfare. The need for such technology was highlighted during Russia’s war in Ukraine.

The latest funding round, led by Valor Equity Partners, will help Chaos increase production and hire more staff. The company has now raised a total of $1 billion since it was founded in 2022.

Investors are putting almost $30 billion into defense technology this year. Other companies in this field include Anduril, Shield AI, and Saronic, which also focus on drones and military technology.

Chaos has previously signed a $2 million contract with the U.S. Air Force. The company expects to announce more contracts soon. Chaos also bought a company called Ziva Corporation, which makes radars that detect threats faster than older systems.

John Tenet said the company’s radars can detect small drones from hundreds of kilometers away, giving governments and military forces more time to respond to threats. Chaos also has several former government officials on its team, helping the company work with federal contracts.

The growing defense tech market shows that investors see strong potential in companies that make new technologies to protect against drones and other modern threats.
