Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday inaugurated six state-of-the-art Switching Sub-Stations aimed at enhancing the city’s electric bus charging infrastructure. The initiative is part of the city government’s ongoing efforts to modernize public transport and promote sustainable mobility.
The newly inaugurated substations were developed collaboratively by BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd. (TPDDL). They are strategically located at Peeragarhi, Nangloi, Ambedkar Nagar, Srinivaspuri, Okhla Central Workshop, and Narela.
BRPL operates five substations at Peeragarhi, Nangloi, Ambedkar Nagar, Srinivaspuri, and Okhla Central Workshop, which together can charge 970 electric buses.
TPDDL’s Narela substation will cater to 200 electric buses.
Collectively, these facilities ensure reliable and sustainable transport for 1,170 EV buses in Delhi, underscoring the city’s commitment to clean and green mobility solutions.
Focus on Timely Execution and Delivery

The inaugurations are part of the ongoing ‘Sewa Pakhwada’, launched to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. During this fortnight, the Delhi government is dedicating 75 services and projects for public benefit.
The Chief Minister also noted accelerated progress in other sectors, including:
Roads and community centers worth Rs 760 crore in Pooth Khurd.

Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh emphasized that the government is actively rebuilding Delhi’s public transport system to promote sustainable mobility and reduce carbon emissions.
Power Minister Ashish Sood assured that every household and bus depot will receive reliable electricity, with upgrades planned wherever required to support the growing EV network.
