Frankfurt Airport operator Fraport has reported stronger financial results for the third quarter of 2025. The company said its earnings improved more than expected, mainly because of lower employee-related costs and better performance in airport operations.
Fraport said its earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) reached 593.1 million euros in the third quarter. This is a rise of 22.6% compared to the same period last year. It was also higher than what market experts had predicted, which was around 533 million euros.
A major reason for this increase was a one-time refund related to a pension plan. This refund reduced personnel costs by about 50 million euros. Lower costs helped the company report stronger earnings even as it continues to invest in airport operations and new terminal development.
Frankfurt Airport is one of Europe’s busiest airports and a major hub for international travel. The company has been working to recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which had reduced air travel worldwide. As travel demand continues to return, airport activity has picked up, helping Fraport improve its income from passenger services and airline operations.
The report also comes as Fraport continues its work on Terminal 3 at Frankfurt Airport. Terminal 3 is expected to support more travelers in the coming years and improve airport capacity. The new terminal is part of a long-term plan to modernise and expand the airport to meet future travel needs.
The higher profits show that Fraport is managing its costs more effectively while preparing for future growth. However, the company still faces challenges such as changing travel demand, global economic conditions, and higher costs of airport maintenance and expansion.
Market analysts will continue to watch how Fraport balances investment and cost control as it prepares for increased air travel in the coming years. For now, the third-quarter results are a positive sign for the company and for the aviation industry’s recovery.
