Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will visit the White House on November 18 for an official meeting with United States President Donald Trump. A White House official confirmed the visit on Monday, saying that the two leaders are expected to discuss several key regional and security matters.
This meeting marks an important step in the growing relationship between Saudi Arabia and the United States. President Trump is expected to urge Saudi Arabia to join the Abraham Accords, a peace agreement that aims to normalize relations between Israel and Arab nations. Under this deal, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco have already established diplomatic ties with Israel since 2020.
So far, Saudi Arabia has been careful about joining the accords. The kingdom has said it wants to see progress toward the creation of a Palestinian state before making such a move. However, Trump told CBS’s “60 Minutes” program that he believes Saudi Arabia will eventually become part of the Abraham Accords.
The visit may also include discussions about a new defense agreement between the United States and Saudi Arabia. Reports from the Financial Times suggest that both sides are considering signing such an agreement during the Crown Prince’s visit. A senior U.S. official said that discussions are ongoing, but the final details are not yet confirmed.
Saudi Arabia has long sought stronger U.S. security guarantees to protect the kingdom from regional threats. It has also requested access to advanced American weapons systems. The United States and Saudi Arabia have been close partners for decades, maintaining a relationship built on mutual interests — oil supply from Riyadh and defense cooperation from Washington.
During President Trump’s visit to Riyadh in May, the United States agreed to sell Saudi Arabia a massive arms package worth nearly $142 billion. This deal further strengthened the defense partnership between the two countries.
The upcoming meeting between Trump and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is expected to focus not only on defense and the Abraham Accords but also on broader economic cooperation. Observers say the visit could shape the next phase of U.S.-Saudi relations and influence future regional alliances in the Middle East.
Both nations are entering this meeting with a strong desire to maintain stability and cooperation in the region. For the United States, Saudi Arabia remains a key ally in countering threats from Iran and ensuring the security of global oil markets. For Saudi Arabia, close ties with Washington help in advancing its national Vision 2030 goals, which include economic modernization and regional leadership.
The world will be closely watching this meeting in Washington on November 18, as it could mark a new chapter in the long-standing relationship between Saudi Arabia and the United States.
