Strong Waves in Tenerife Cause Three Deaths

Post by : Sameer Saifi

In Tenerife, a popular island in Spain, strong and rough sea waves caused the deaths of three people and left 15 others injured. The incident took place on Saturday when the sea became very dangerous near the coast.

Emergency teams said that a man fell into the sea at La Guancha, in the northern part of the island. A rescue helicopter brought him out of the water and took him to the hospital, but the doctors could not save him.

In another case, a man was found floating on the beach at El Cabezo, which is in the south of the island. Lifeguards tried to bring him back to life, but he was announced dead at the scene.

A third victim was a woman who had been near the sea when a sudden large wave pulled 10 people into the water at Puerto de la Cruz. She suffered a heart attack and did not survive. Three others from the group were badly injured and taken to the hospital. They are receiving treatment.

The Canary Islands, which include Tenerife, are known for their beaches and tourism. But at certain times, the seas around them can become very rough and dangerous. The island’s emergency service has now issued warnings, asking people to be careful and avoid risky coastal areas.

Officials are reminding everyone, including tourists, to listen to safety alerts and stay away from the water when the sea is strong. Even experienced swimmers can be in danger during such conditions.

Many families and visitors are in shock after the tragic events. The local government has said they will continue to monitor the sea and keep people informed to prevent more accidents.
