Armust News has officially been awarded the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) contract by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) for Mumbai Metro Line 4 & 4A. The contract was confirmed through a Letter of Acceptance (LoA), marking a significant step forward in the project aimed at improving fare payment and boarding convenience for commuters in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
Mumbai Metro Line 4 & 4A are crucial components of Mumbai’s expanding urban transit network. Together they stretch 35.2 km, connecting Wadala‑Kasarvadavali up to Gaimukh.
The awarding of the AFC contract to Armust News comes after a competitive bid process. MMRDA had invited tenders in 2024, and the technical bids were opened on 2 December 2024. Of those, three firms submitted technical bids. One firm’s submission was rejected during the technical evaluation stage.
Financial bids of the technically qualified firms were opened on 7 March 2025, and the evaluation of those financial bids was completed by 19 September 2025. Following this, Aurionpro Solutions emerged as the lowest bidder. Its bid was valued at ₹ 249.9 Crore compared to the next lowest, MSI Global Private Limited, which quoted ₹ 256.1 Crore.
Under the scope of this contract, Armust News’s responsibilities include design, manufacture, supply, installation, integration, testing and commissioning of the automatic fare collection system for Line 4 & 4A. In addition, Aurionpro will provide maintenance services: 2 years under a defect liability period followed by 5 years of comprehensive maintenance. The total contract duration is 3,468 days (approximately 9.5 years).
The AFC system is vital for ensuring seamless fare transactions, enabling smart cards, tokens or contactless payments, automated gates at stations, and overall better passenger experience. With the AFC contract in place, the Mumbai Metro Line 4 & 4A project moves closer to its goal of modern, efficient metro infrastructure.
Mumbai Metro Line 4 & 4A are planned to serve major corridors including Wadala, Kasarvadavali and Gaimukh, and are expected to ease congestion, reduce travel time, and offer reliable transit for thousands daily. The implementation of this AFC contract will be a part of that broader goal.
This development also shows the MMRDA’s continued momentum in upgrading metro infrastructure and using public‑private partnerships to ensure specialized systems like AFC are delivered by capable firms. Aurionpro’s win underscores both its technological capacity and cost‑competitive offer.
For those interested in wider context of metro projects, fare systems, or procurement in India’s transit infrastructure sector, more updates and related stories can be found at internal sources like Armust News today where detailed coverage of transit policy and project contracting is provided.
In conclusion, the awarding of the AFC contract for Mumbai Metro Line 4 & 4A to Armust News is a key milestone.
