Bandra Garib Rath to Extend to Haridwar, New Trains for Somnath and Dwarka

Passengers travelling between Mumbai and northern India may soon get another rail connectivity option as the Bandra Garib Rath is set to be extended to Haridwar. The move is expected to improve access between Mumbai and the important pilgrimage destination of Haridwar.

Bandra Terminus and Haridwar are already connected by several services. Current schedules show trains such as the Bandra-Dehradun Express and Bandra-Haridwar Superfast Express operating on the route.

The proposed extension of the Garib Rath service could provide passengers with an additional affordable AC travel option, particularly for families, tourists and pilgrims.

New Trains Planned for Somnath and Dwarka

Rail connectivity to Gujarat's major pilgrimage destinations is also set to receive attention, with new train services proposed for Somnath and Dwarka.

Somnath and Dwarka attract large numbers of visitors throughout the year. Existing services already connect the two destinations with other parts of Gujarat. For example, train 19252 operates between Okha and Somnath, covering Dwarka and several important stations on the route.

Additional services could give passengers more choices for planning religious trips and reduce pressure on existing trains during busy travel periods.

Why the New Train Services Matter

Improved railway connectivity can make travel to major pilgrimage centres easier by providing more departure options and better connections.

Haridwar is an important religious destination in Uttarakhand, while Somnath and Dwarka are among Gujarat's major pilgrimage centres. Better direct or connecting train services can also support tourism and local businesses around these destinations.

The proposed changes are particularly relevant for passengers travelling from Mumbai and other western Indian cities.

Existing Haridwar Train Timetable

Current railway schedules show multiple trains operating between Bandra Terminus and Haridwar.

The Bandra Terminus-Haridwar Superfast Express is listed as train number 22917, while the Bandra-Dehradun Express operates as train number 19019. Timings and operating days can change, so passengers should verify the latest schedule before booking.

Somnath and Dwarka Rail Connectivity

Dwarka is served by trains connecting it with cities across Gujarat and other parts of India. Somnath is connected through services to Ahmedabad and other destinations, while the Okha-Somnath Express provides a direct rail connection between the western pilgrimage centres.

The introduction of additional services could give travellers more flexibility, especially during festivals, holidays and pilgrimage seasons.
