Dense Fog Hits Delhi, IGI Airport Advises Travelers

Post by : Saif

A thick blanket of dense fog has covered Delhi early on Monday morning, severely affecting visibility across the city. The phenomenon has caused flight delays at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport and disrupted several rail services, creating inconvenience for daily commuters.

The airport authorities issued a travel advisory, urging passengers to check flight schedules and arrive at the airport well in advance. Several domestic and international flights have been delayed or rescheduled due to poor visibility on the runway.

Rail services have also been affected, with trains running late at major stations, including New Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin, and Anand Vihar. Officials said that low visibility on tracks is slowing operations as a safety precaution. Commuters have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly.

Delhi’s Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the fog may persist until late morning, with visibility dropping to less than 200 meters in some areas. The fog is a result of cold temperatures combined with high humidity, common during Delhi winters.

Authorities have urged citizens to drive cautiously, maintain safe distances on the road, and allow extra time for travel. Public transport operators have also announced measures to ensure safety during the foggy conditions.

Residents and travelers are advised to stay updated on flight and train schedules and avoid unnecessary travel until visibility improves.
