Durga Puja Travel Gets a Boost as Hyderabad-Kolkata Special Train Adds Trips

Festival travel between Hyderabad and Kolkata is set to get an additional rail service as the Charlapalli-Santragachi Puja Special train will continue running during the Durga Puja period. The railway has added four extra trips in both directions and revised the timings at several stations along the route.

The service is being extended to handle increased passenger demand during the festive season, when many people travel between Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal.

Four Additional Trips Added

Train 07221, operating from Charlapalli to Santragachi, will make four additional trips between October 3 and October 31, 2026. The service will not operate on October 10.

The return service, train 07222 from Santragachi to Charlapalli, will also make four additional trips between October 4 and November 1. The return service will not operate on October 11.

The special train will operate with fares set at 1.3 times the applicable regular fare, according to the reported railway schedule.

Timings Changed at Key Stations

Passengers using the train should check the revised timetable before travelling because arrival and departure timings have been changed at several important stations.

For train 07221, changes have been reported at stations including Guntur, Vijayawada, Gudivada, Duvvada, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam Road, Palasa and Ichchapuram.

The train will now reach Guntur at 10:10 am and leave at 10:15 am, compared with the earlier 9:55 am and 10:00 am schedule. At Vijayawada, the revised timing is 11:35 am to 11:45 am.

Other stations on the route have also received revised timings as part of the updated schedule.

Return Journey Also Gets Revised Schedule

Changes have also been made to train 07222 on the Santragachi-Charlapalli route.

The revised timings include earlier departures from Akividu, Kaikalur, Gudivada and Vijayawada. At Vijayawada Junction, the train will now arrive at 9:30 am and depart at 9:40 am.

Passengers boarding the return service should therefore check the updated schedule instead of relying on the earlier timetable.

Route Covers Several Major Cities

The special train connects Charlapalli with Santragachi through several important railway stations across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal.

The route includes Nalgonda, Miryalaguda, Piduguralla, Sattenapalle, Guntur, Vijayawada, Gudivada, Kaikalur, Akividu, Bhimavaram Town, Tanuku, Rajahmundry, Samalkot, Duvvada, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam Road, Palasa, Ichchapuram, Brahmapur, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jajpur K Road, Bhadrak, Balasore and Kharagpur before reaching Santragachi.

What Passengers Should Check

Travellers planning their Durga Puja journey should check the train number, operating date and station-wise timing before leaving for the station. The additional services are intended to provide more travel options during the busy festive period.

The railway has also directed the concerned departments to maintain arrangements for watering and cleaning at designated stations along the route.
