Paris | June 18, 2025 — In one of the biggest announcements at the Paris Air Show this year, SkyWest Airlines, a major regional airline in the United States, has signed a large deal with Embraer to buy up to 110 new E-175 jets. The agreement includes a firm order for 60 aircraft and purchase rights for 50 more, making it one of the largest jet deals in recent times.
This is a big move by SkyWest to modernize its fleet and continue offering top-quality service on regional routes. The new jets are set to begin delivery in 2027. The first 16 aircraft will go directly to Delta Air Lines, replacing older planes—specifically 11 CRJ900s and 5 CRJ700s—which will gradually be retired from service.
The remaining 44 confirmed E-175 aircraft will be delivered from 2028 to 2032, depending on new contracts with other airline partners. If SkyWest uses its full purchase rights, it could add 50 more E-175s to its fleet, giving it a total of 110 brand-new aircraft.
SkyWest already operates more E-175 jets than any other airline in the world, with 263 currently flying across the U.S. These jets are known for being reliable, fuel-efficient, and comfortable—making them a favorite for both airlines and passengers.
SkyWest CEO Chip Childs shared that this deal fits perfectly into the company’s long-term strategy. “We’re committed to providing a great product and a modern fleet for our partners,” he said. With this new order, SkyWest will continue to lead the way in dual-class regional flying, offering first-class and economy seating even on shorter flights.
On Embraer’s side, this order is a major vote of confidence. The company’s CEO, Arjan Meijer, said the E-175 is “the backbone of regional aviation in North America.” He also praised SkyWest for choosing a jet that balances cost, performance, and passenger comfort so well.
The E-175 jets are a smart choice for today’s changing air travel needs. They are efficient, environmentally friendly, and offer a smooth ride. With travel demand growing again, airlines like SkyWest are preparing to meet it with newer and better aircraft.
SkyWest’s latest agreement marks a bold step toward the future of regional flying, starting with the delivery of 16 new Embraer E175s to Delta in 2027, followed by 44 additional firm aircraft through 2032, and the potential for 50 more if expansion continues. This move signals that regional air travel is not just growing—it’s evolving to become smarter, more comfortable, and more efficient. With next-generation jets promising quieter cabins and improved seating, passengers can expect a significantly enhanced travel experience. Beyond fleet upgrades, the deal reinforces SkyWest’s commitment to U.S. aviation jobs and the long-term strength of regional connectivity across the country.
