Tesla Gets Green Light for Full Self-Driving Software in Croatia

Tesla has received approval to roll out its Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised software in Croatia, opening the way for the technology to become available to drivers across the country soon. Croatia is the latest European market to approve Tesla’s advanced driving system.

Croatia Approves Tesla FSD Supervised

Tesla said on September 29 that Croatian authorities had approved its supervised FSD system. The company expects the rollout to begin across Croatia in the near future.

The approval adds Croatia to a growing group of European countries where Tesla has secured permission for the technology. Earlier approvals in Europe included the Netherlands and Belgium, while neighboring Slovenia also approved the system this month.

Driver Supervision Is Still Required

Despite its Full Self-Driving name, Tesla's system does not make its vehicles fully autonomous. Tesla says drivers using FSD Supervised must remain attentive and ready to take control whenever necessary.

The software is designed to assist with several parts of driving, including navigation, lane changes and handling different road situations. Tesla describes the system as a driver-assistance technology rather than a vehicle that can operate without human oversight.

European Expansion Continues

Croatia's approval comes as Tesla continues seeking wider regulatory acceptance for FSD across Europe. The company has been working with individual countries while discussions over broader European approval continue.

An EU-level decision on Tesla's supervised FSD system has been delayed. The vote, which had been expected in October, is now not expected to be considered until at least December, according to Reuters.

Safety Questions Remain Part of the Debate

Tesla's European expansion is also taking place amid scrutiny of how the system performs on public roads. The European Transport Safety Council has raised concerns about certain FSD functions, including speed-related features, and has called for stricter regulatory review.

Tesla continues to promote FSD Supervised as an advanced driver-assistance system, while regulators in Europe are assessing how the technology fits within existing road-safety and vehicle rules.

Croatia's approval therefore gives Tesla another market for its supervised driving software, while wider European adoption remains tied to regulatory decisions and ongoing safety discussions.
