Volvo Cars plans to launch 13 new models between now and 2030 as the Swedish automaker looks to expand its product range, revive sales and improve profitability.
The company announced the plan ahead of its investor day in Stockholm on Thursday. Under CEO Hakan Samuelsson, Volvo has been streamlining its product lineup while placing greater focus on regional markets.
Six of the planned models will be developed for China, while seven will target Western markets.
Volvo Cars is targeting an earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) margin above 8% as part of its strategy to improve financial performance.
The automaker reported an EBIT margin of 3.5% in 2025, meaning the new product strategy represents a significant increase in its profitability target.
Volvo expects its expanded lineup and more region-specific vehicles to help attract customers and strengthen sales across key markets.
Volvo has been changing how it develops and markets vehicles under Samuelsson. Instead of offering highly customised products across markets, the company is putting greater emphasis on vehicles designed around the needs of individual regions.
Seven models planned for Western markets will use Volvo's SPA2 and SPA3 platforms. These platforms are part of the company's next-generation vehicle architecture.
Six China-focused models will be developed with Volvo's sister company Geely Auto, creating opportunities to share technology, development resources and other capabilities.
Volvo said its product expansion will build on four main strengths: regionalised products, electrification, cooperation with Geely and broader customer services beyond the vehicle itself.
Electrification remains an important part of Volvo's long-term product strategy as the company continues developing electric vehicles alongside other powertrain options.
One of the key upcoming products is the Volvo EX60, a midsize electric SUV positioned as a flagship model. Production of the vehicle began at Volvo's plant in Gothenburg earlier this year.
Volvo's expanded product portfolio comes as the automaker looks to revive sales and improve its financial performance.
Offering more vehicles across different segments and markets could allow the company to address regional customer preferences more directly.
The strategy also aims to make greater use of Volvo's relationship with Geely, which owns a major stake in Volvo Cars and provides opportunities for cooperation in vehicle development and technology.

Volvo's latest plan covers the period through 2030 and includes products for both China and Western markets.
The company expects regionalised products, electrification and cooperation with Geely to support its growth strategy while helping improve its profitability.
Volvo's target of an EBIT margin above 8% compares with the 3.5% margin recorded in 2025, making earnings improvement a central part of its strategy for the remainder of the decade.
