WestJet Begins Parking Boeing 737 Aircraft Ahead of Possible Flight Attendants' Strike

Canadian airline WestJet has started parking some of its Boeing 737 aircraft as negotiations with its flight attendants continue without a final agreement.

The airline said the move is intended to maintain operational control and prepare for possible disruptions if labor talks fail to produce a settlement.

Strike Could Begin This Weekend

The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), which represents WestJet's cabin crew, has warned that flight attendants could begin strike action if negotiations remain unresolved.

The dispute centers on compensation for work performed before takeoff and after landing. The union is seeking payment from the time crew members report for duty until they officially finish their shifts, rather than only for time spent in flight.

WestJet Continues Negotiations

Some Flights Remain Unaffected

According to the airline, WestJet Encore services operated by Bombardier Q400 aircraft, along with flights operated by partner airlines under codeshare agreements, are expected to continue as scheduled.
