China Seeks Stronger Oil, Gas, and Investment Ties with UAE

Post by : Saif

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his United Arab Emirates counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, on Friday to discuss deeper cooperation in investment, oil and gas, and infrastructure, China’s foreign ministry said on Saturday.

Wang is on a three-nation tour of the Middle East, which began on Friday, aimed at strengthening China’s political and economic relationships in the region. During talks in Abu Dhabi, Wang emphasized the importance of high-level exchanges and building political trust between China and the UAE.

“China is willing to strengthen high-level exchanges with the UAE, consolidate political mutual trust, and elevate bilateral relations,” Wang said, according to the ministry.

The discussions come as China seeks to expand its energy security and investment footprint in the Middle East. Cooperation in oil and gas, along with infrastructure projects, remains a priority for both countries as they explore opportunities for joint ventures and long-term partnerships.

China and the UAE have historically maintained strong economic ties, and this visit signals a renewed focus on strategic collaboration. By boosting energy and investment links, China aims to secure reliable energy supplies and strengthen its presence in a key global region.

The visit also reflects China’s broader Middle East strategy, which combines economic engagement with diplomatic initiatives to build trust and long-term partnerships. Analysts say this approach can help both countries benefit from trade, investment, and shared development projects.
